Can we as Americans afford to allow any more infringments on such a sacred document as the Bill of Rights and the Constitution? Did we not learn the lessons taught by Hitler, Stalin and Mao or are we as a people to complacent or indifferent when it comes to protecting the basic fundemental rights granted to us by our founding fathers when they first assembled and composed the Constitution. Action is required by all involved, less we fail and lose everything including our honor and integrity as a citizen for the cause of freedom. Take the 2nd Amendment and the others will fall quickly and without fail, when the 1st follows and our voice is quelled, and we can no longer assemble so our voice can be heard, will the chains of oppression bind you fast? I think not for me, for the only recourse is to live, yes... but live free, and for the price that is required whatever it may be, to ensure this freedom.

The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State.

What about "for defense of themselves against the State"? just kidding (although it does seem to be getting to that point).

I agree. I find it interesting that sometimes when you start nailing down a "liberal" on where they stand on the issues, they begin to realize that they are not a liberal at all. I actually used to call myself a liberal, probably because I thought it sounded intellectual. One of the quotes I put on my Myspace page says "Liberalism has nothing to do with Liberty. Vote Libertarian". I actually ripped it off from a bumper sticker, but hey, when you encounter a statement that speaks that much truth, copyright infringement be damned!

I agree that we can certainly find some common ground with a lot of these folks. I guess my cynical side says that if you're voting for the far left gun-grabbers, then gun rights probably aren't a high priority for you.

And yes, it is time for Lugar to retire. He is TERRIBLE.
