Want to run for office?

Running as a Libertarian candidate does much to help the party, and ends up being far more fun than a candidate can imagine. If you are thinking of running an active campaign, please post it here so the LPIN can contact you. Heck, even if you want to run as a "paper candidate," post it here. (A paper candidate does not run an active campaign, they just appear on the ballot.)

Other former candidates will then swoop in, and try and talk you into it (or out of it.)

We are currently recruiting for all 2010 races. We are especially focused on the Secretary of State race. We are also looking people to run for the Statehouse, down to the township boards.

How about local school boards? (Beech Grove, specifically)

Great to see you are getting your campaign going Darrell. Let me know what I can do to help in the Palmyra area.

I have registered my campaign committee with IEC and am aligning my campaign for State Representative-District 70. The run should be ascertained to be against 30+ yr veteran, Paul J Robertson (Dem.). It is important for any and all party members to fill the ballots, and get the name recognition for the Party. With each candidate out there, we will receive this recognition. "Campaign, Campaign, Campaign!"

I am currently in the mindset of running for the seat of State Representative for the 70th District. I have been, and at the present, gathering support for the campaign. I have been watching the issues, and am not satisfied with the current representative. With the Democrats raising taxes, and the Republicans, standing by the way, it is not fairing well as representative government for the district, and state. For the State of Indiana needs to have an awakening, and quell the stagnant state of affairs. All I can say is, "REFORM, REFORM, REFORM...".

I'm pretty set on running for Hendricks County Council District 2 in 2010.

My goal is to become the US Representative from Indiana's 1st District. I appreciate many of the comments already on this site: start thinking about your talking points, start getting a staff together, study your opponent. I recognize the near impossibility of anyone wresting this seat away from Pete Visclosky. But I also recognize the one big advantage held by the Libertarian candidate, they are on the right side of the issues. At a time when democrats are not only voting to increase taxes, expand the already over-reached federal government and interfere in nearly every business sector, they are also voting to take away private ballots from union members. What a great opportunity for someone with the right message to be heard.

My goal is not only to run but win the Presidency of the United States. I feel the country will end the Democratic and Republican party ruling class in 2012 and elect people who are truly dedicated to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Hello everyone. I'm bound and determined to run for State Rep of the 70th district (95% of Harrison County and bits and pieces of Floyd and Clark). I have been dedicating my spare time to the issues and am planning on visiting the State House to watch our legislators in action at least 10 times when the session opens. I'll do this again in 2010 so I can be as prepared as possible (if that is possible). Any insight or advice is always appreciated.

Sean,
Yes, I am in District #4. The US Congress would be my ultimate goal of course, but it's not an all or nothing kind of thing. I just want to make a positive impact, if that means starting smaller in terms of what I run for so be it. As long as I can keep the ears!! j/k, I wouldn't want to get sued by Disney.

Nathan - Chris Spangle probably has more insight on the more local races than I do. I could speak to my area (North West Indy) but, at least until such time as they are done away with, there are Township Board, City Council (including 4 "at-large") and if you're technically in the Lawrence area there are going to positions specific to Lawrence (as there would be with Beech Grove or Speedway as well I believe).

Ed Angleton's thoughts regarding things to do and think about are excellent. One item to add to that is to start thinking about how you would talk about libertarian concepts in ways that regular people would understand and, remembering you don't have hours of dialogue to walk them down the path, sound like reasonable, measured steps to take.
